Accessibility Statement

Last updated: Oct 10, 2026

Draft — pending legal review. Wording may change.

The Hebrew text is binding; this English translation is for convenience.

Our commitment

We want everyone to be able to use the "Israel for Israelis" site easily and independently. We work to meet the Israeli Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations, 5773-2013, and Israeli Standard IS 5568, which is based on WCAG 2.0 level AA.

Statement first written: 9 October 2026. The last-updated date appears at the top of the page.

What the site has today

  • The page language and reading direction are declared (Hebrew right-to-left, English left-to-right), and the whole layout mirrors accordingly.
  • A "Skip to main content" link is the first element on every page: one Tab press shows it, Enter moves focus to the content.
  • Semantic structure: a header, named navigation regions, a main content region and a footer; a heading hierarchy on every page.
  • Keyboard navigation: every link and button is reachable by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator.
  • Dialogs (photo gallery, menus, forms): focus stays inside them, Esc closes them, they carry an accessible name, and the close button is announced in the interface language.
  • Forms: every field has a label; error messages appear as text next to the field and are announced to screen readers.
  • Status messages (loading, sending, success, error) are announced to screen readers.
  • Every image has alternative text; property photos are named by listing and photo number.
  • Map: the location is also given as text (city and neighbourhood).
  • The operating system's "reduce motion" setting is honoured site-wide: animations and transitions are disabled when it is on.
  • Owner content that was translated is labelled as such, with its source language.
  • The site works on small screens and with enlarged text; on phones every button and navigation link is at least 44 pixels.

Not yet fully accessible (we are working on it)

  • On wide (desktop) screens some buttons are smaller than 44 pixels.
  • Photos and descriptions uploaded by owners: we ask owners to describe the property in text, but not every photo has a detailed description.
  • The site has not yet been audited by a certified accessibility professional and has not been tested systematically with assistive technologies. We will update this page when such a review takes place.
